Influencer Becca Bloom shares her breakfast ritual that includes drinking bird spit along with dim sum caviar and coconut milk in a viral TikTok video

“Plate my breakfast with me,” Bloom, 27, said in a Friday, October 31, TikTok video as she unboxed a number of dim sum containers. “It’s 4:30 a.m. and we’re starting the day off with seafood dumplings.

The second tier we have chicken sticky rice steamed in seaweed.”“Some of you know this already, but I start every morning off drinking bird spit,” she said, taking a sip as if the concoction were any other type of soup. Bloom subsequently added marinated scallops, a hard-boiled egg and an apple to her plate, as well as caviar “for seasoning.” Bloom’s breakfast of choice quickly raised eyebrows from plenty of social media users questioning the influencer’s decision to slurp avian spit.“Bird spit is a common thing in Asia,” a TikTok follower replied. “If cooked right, it has a jelly-like texture. We tend to cook with rook sugar, ginger and jujube.” While Bloom hasn’t responded to the fan questions, she closed out her meal with a sip of coconut milk. Bloom’s husband, software engineer David Pownall, had served the beverage in an actual coconut. Bloom and Pownall have been together since 2019, tying the knot in a dreamy Lake Como, Italy, ceremony on August 28. “We had a few weekends to choose from, but a fortune teller told us this was the luckiest date,” Bloom, one of the faces of the “RichTok” social media trend, told Vogue in September. “It felt like the universe was pointing us toward that day.” Bloom’s glamorous style, naturally, carried over to her wedding weekend wardrobe — she wore gowns by Oscar de la Renta and Chanel. “I know my wedding wardrobe choices were bolder and more colorful than the traditional white palette, but I wanted the weekend to feel playful and true to me,” Bloom told the outlet. “I tried on countless white gowns, but in the end, I followed what made me happiest. And nothing felt more joyful than stepping into a giant flower.”“Peonies are considered the unofficial flower of China, where both my parents are from, and they filled the garden of my childhood home,” she said. “Every year, it would bloom with peonies, and they became my favorite flower and a lasting symbol of family and home.”“On our wedding day, every forecast promised a 100% chance of rain and thunder, and it poured throughout the day. My parents, who are deeply rooted in feng shui, reminded me that rain is a blessing,” she wrote via Instagram on September 3. “Both of our parents were married in rainstorms, and both have been happily married for over 35 years. We took it as a sign, even if it meant some of the florals, cocktails, and pre-planned activities had to be shifted indoors. But the moment our guests arrived, something extraordinary happened: the skies cleared only above our villa.” She concluded, 'The rain had left the gardens fuller, the air impossibly gentle. And when we said ‘I do,’ it felt almost like a miracle.”
