Seaside Lodge at Chesapeake Bay, located in the city of Seabrook, is the latest senior living development built with disaster recovery funds Harris County received in the wake of flooding in 2016 and Hurricane Harvey in 2017.Harris County is unveiling a new 92-unit affordable housing development for seniors on Friday.

The building is also designed with accessibility needs in mind — every floor has elevator access, and all units can be outfitted with wheelchair-friendly design elements, like grab bars, if desired, said David Koogler, president of the Mark-Dana Corporation, which developed the property. “It is a Class A apartment complex at affordable rates,” Koogler said. “Which is what the affordable housing program is all about.” The real estate industry uses the term “Class A” to refer to buildings of the highest quality.
