A loan broker and lender were defrauded of almost $4.5 million by an individual impersonating Green Bay Packers player Xavier McKinney. Aliya Sports Finance Fund filed a lawsuit against Sure Sports, alleging the broker failed to conduct proper due diligence. Sure Sports attempted to dismiss the case but the motion was denied.

GREEN BAY, Wis. - An impostor posing as an NFL player allegedly stole almost $4.5 million by tricking a loan broker and lender into thinking he was the athlete. Aliya Sports Finance Fund filed a lawsuit against Sure Sports, a loan broker, after the company was defrauded by a suspect who posed as Green Bay Packers player Xavier McKinney, according to.

ASFF claimed that Sure Sports did not due its due diligence in confirming that the suspect, who was introduced to ASFF by Sure Sports, was indeed McKinney."Based on the information Sure Sports provided to ASFF, including its due diligence as to the identity and creditworthiness of McKinney and his company, XMK Companies, LLC, ASFF agreed to the terms of the Loan," ASFF wrote in its lawsuit. "ASFF has come to learn that the borrower apparently was not McKinney, but rather a third party who impersonated McKinney to facilitate the disbursement and theft of the Loan proceeds." ASFF further claimed that although Sure Sports indicated on September 10, 2024 that the FBI was investigating the source that introduced the organization to the fraudulent McKinney, Sure Sports did not note that there could be an issue with the loan. Sure Sports did not inform ASFF that the loan may have been a scam until October 20, 2024, according to the lawsuit. Sure Sports attempted to have the case dismissed in 2025 on the grounds that ASFF was responsible for doing their own research before loaning money to borrowers, and that loan brokers should not be accountable for criminal acts done against lenders, the Guardian reported. The motion was reportedly denied within two months. "ASFF’s Complaint is completely devoid of any allegation showing that Sure Sports should have objectively reasonably anticipated that an impersonator – who, it should be noted also scammed Sure Sports during the course of its provision of underwriting services – would facilitate the disbursement and theft of the Loan," Sure Sports said in its motion to dismiss the case.McKinney did not seem to be a part of the crime, and was simply a victim of stolen identity, according to the outlet.Every teenager has his or her own reason from coming to the beach during Spring Break.BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. — State environmental officials say a troubled Baldwin County development remains out of compliance, warning the developer could fThe CDC issued a global travel alert for denge -- which is also known as "dengue fever" or "breakbone fever" -- and spread by mosquito bites. The Mobile Housing Authority has announced that the following Public Housing waiting lists will open to new applicants on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 9:00 am.TheSaturday will bring a critical fire risk to the Gulf Coast thanks to a dry front that will pass through our area on Friday night.A Red Flag Warning will be in e
