Igloo voluntarily recalls 90-quart Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers due to a potential hazard of fingertip amputation. The tow handle can pinch fingertips against the cooler, causing serious injuries. Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled coolers and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle.

Igloo , a well-known manufacturer of coolers and mugs, has issued a voluntary recall of over one million rolling cooler s due to a potential risk of fingertip amputation . The recall affects 90-quart Flip & Tow Rolling Cooler s, according to a news release from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Thursday. Igloo Products Corp. confirmed the recall on its website, stating that they are working in collaboration with the CPSC.

The issue stems from the tow handle, which can pinch consumers' fingertips against the cooler's body, posing a serious hazard of fingertip amputation and crushing injuries. The CPSC has received a dozen reports of individuals sustaining fingertip injuries while using these coolers, including amputations, lacerations, and bone fractures. The recalled coolers were manufactured before January 2024. Consumers can identify affected models by checking the manufacture date printed on the bottom of the cooler. The date is displayed in a circular pattern with an arrow pointing to the month, and the last two digits of the year are located inside the circle. These coolers, priced between $80 and $140, are available in various body and lid color combinations. They were sold nationwide between January 2019 and January 2025 through major retailers such as Target, Costco, and Dick's Sporting Goods. Online purchases were also made via Igloocoolers.com and Amazon. Igloo urges all consumers who purchased these coolers to immediately discontinue use and contact the company for a free replacement handle
