Igloo has issued a voluntary recall of over 1 million 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers due to a handle hazard that has caused fingertip injuries, including some amputations. The coolers were sold at major retailers between 2019 and January 2025.
Igloo has issued a voluntary recall of over 1 million of its 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Cooler s sold in the United States, Mexico, and Canada due to a potential handle hazard . The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that at least 12 consumers have suffered fingertip injuries, including amputations, as a result of the defect.
The recalled coolers were sold between 2019 and January 2025 at major retailers such as Costco, Target, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Amazon for a price range of $80 to $140. Approximately 1.06 million units were sold in the U.S., 47,000 in Canada, and 23,000 in Mexico. The issue stems from the cooler's tow handle, which can pinch users' fingertips against the product, posing a risk of amputation and other crushing injuries. The CPSC notes that Igloo has received 12 injury reports in the U.S., encompassing fingertip amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations. Consumers who own one of these coolers are strongly advised to immediately cease using it and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle.Igloo has emphasized safety as its top priority and states that it is committed to continuously improving its products to meet the highest safety standards. Consumers can register for the recall online or reach out to Igloo's customer service at 888-943-5182 or [email protected]. Additional information regarding the recall can be found on the CPSC, Health Canada, and OECD's global recall portal websites
