More than 1 million Igloo 90-quart Flip & Tow rolling coolers are being recalled nationwide after a dozen reports of fingertip injuries, including amputations. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall, stating that the tow handle on the coolers can pinch users' fingertips, posing serious amputation and crushing hazards. The manufacturer, Katy, Texas-based Igloo Products Corp.
, has received 12 reports of fingertip injuries, including amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations. The recalled coolers were sold from January 2019 through January 2025 for between $80 and $140 at various retailers, both online and in physical stores, including Academy, Amazon, Dick's, Costco, and directly from Igloo Products. They feature a tow handle with 'IGLOO' printed on the side and came in various body and lid color combinations. Each cooler has one of nearly 50 model numbers on labels affixed to the bottom. A complete list of affected model numbers is available on the CPSC website. Consumers with the recalled coolers are urged to stop using them immediately and contact the company for a free replacement handle.
