Christa Stedman of Austin-Travis County EMS."We have seen a noticeable uptick in the amount of calls that we're responding to that are people who have slipped and fallen on the ice," Stedman said.Dr. Ryan McCorkle, an emergency department physician at St. David’s Medical Center, noted, "Just in the last two nights, I've seen a hip fracture, a couple of wrist fractures, several head injuries."All of these are normal, according to Dr. Kaveesh Kutty from Dell-Seton Medical Center. Kaveesh advised those experiencing severe pain or difficulty moving after a fall to seek medical attention, especially if there is concern for a head injury. "If you ever find yourself in that condition, which we, you know, we hope you never do, here at Del Seton at UT on 15th and Red River, we're a level one trauma center and equipped to handle anything you need," he said. In addition to falls, recreational activities on icy surfaces have resulted in injuries. Stedman highlighted a tragic incident in Frisco, Texas, where a"It is never a good idea to try to sled, ski, snowboard, ice skate, anything behind a moving vehicle,” said Stedman.McCorkle says, "If you don't know about the spot, maybe it needs to be vetted before you run and slide down on a sled. Or it could lead to those same kinds of injuries when you have a high-speed accident." As the week progresses, hope grows that the ice begins to melt across these surfaces, but in the meantime, "the biggest danger zone's right outside your house," said McCorkle.Expert Settles the Faucet Drip Debate and Shares Other Cold-Weather Tips As temperatures drop across Central Texas, one question keeps popping up online: Should you drip your faucets or let them stream? To settle the debate, we spokeCentral Texas residents are waking up to another bitterly cold morning following the weekend's ice stormA sledding accident involving teenagers left a 16-year-old girl dead and another in critical condition.Just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday, police in Frisco were calleA large fire tore through an apartment building in Bee Cave on Monday morning, affecting 20 units and displacing 45 residents. The fire at the Estates at Bee CavUPDATE:Nhung Thi Cam Nhu has been found, according to police.ORIGINAL STORY:Pflugerville police are asking for the public's help in locating a 34-year-old woman
