A strong start gave Fairbanks a two-goal advantage Saturday, but a sloppy second period let Anchorage back into the game.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Saturday was a night of peaks and valleys for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs at the Big Dipper Ice Arena, with their matchup against the Anchorage Wolverines ultimately ending in a 6-5 overtime loss.
The 3-1 lead held for a good chunk of the middle period, with Krivtsov’s instincts fending off an increasingly potent Anchorage attack — highlighted by an outstretched leg darting to his left to deny a point-blank attempt from the Wolverines. According to Ice Dogs Head Coach Ryan Theros, the mid-game dip in form is a pattern that needs addressing.
The teams traded goals through Bryce Monrean and Nik Gudmundson in the first half of the third period, leaving the scoreline at 5-4 as the game approached its final phases.
