Still, embracing and regularly reading it was not always easy when I was younger. Growing up, I was raised by Christian parents and part of a modern Evangelical community in the 1990s and 2000s, with ripples of the Satanic Panic still affecting many families and congregants' media literacy.

I was perusing Dreamcast Magazine issue #6 when I stumbled upon the Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage ad.

In Berserk , processing trauma is even seen with the protagonist, Guts, and the antagonist, Griffith. They both sustain similar trauma, including both having experienced childhood sexual abuse. However, their position in the story is largely influenced by the fact that Guts manages to depend on others and succeeds in coming to terms with his trauma. At the same time, Griffith fails to do the same, instead becoming obsessed with seizing power .
