Exclusive: Shea Whigham hypes how his MissionImpossible - Dead Reckoning, Part 1 villain is different from similar roles when it comes to his personal vendetta against Ethan:
Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One is introducing many new villains, but one of them is making his hunt for Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt personal. The next installment in the long-running action franchise will see Ethan and his group racing to get their hands on an advanced weapon that could destroy humanity. Unlike many of his prior missions, Ethan will be targeted by multiple enemies, making the stakes the highest they've ever been for the action hero and those he cares about.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT In honor of the movie's upcoming release, Screen Rant spoke exclusively with Shea Whigham for Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One. In offering some new details for his villain in the movie, the star teased that his character's mission of hunting down Cruise's Ethan "real personal" and how it's different from many other villain roles he's been presented before.
Yeah, when you start a project, you always want a point of view. Your characters have a point of view, and I made it real personal with Ethan. But, also you also want characters that go through something by the end. And that's what he was just saying; I think we both start in one place, which is the order to go get Ethan at any cost. And through that, all of a sudden, their characters go through and have a change [in their] point of view that's interesting to watch.
How Whigham's M:I 7 Villain Twists A Franchise Trend Whigham is starring in Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One as Jasper Briggs, an enforcer for the group composed of various intelligence agencies known as "The Community".
