KOTA KINABALU: A fire at a commercial block in Menggatal here saw several premises destroyed, including a hypermarket and a furniture store, on Thursday (Jan 12).
The hypermarket was 80% damaged, while the furniture store and the workers quarters - which is also a storage space of a logistics company - were completely burnt down.The Fire and Rescue Department received the report of the incident at 10.39am.
The Lintas station team was assisted by the fire station teams from Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Penampang. “The operation was done in three sectors, namely water sourced from the water tanker, from the fire engine as well as from the nearby fire hydrant.“The blaze was under control at 12.10pm and overhaul works were carried out,” said a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman.
