The author shares their recent obsession with a snack and discusses the controversial protein powder it contains.
This is my new hyperfixation snack. I like the texture because of the protein powder , which I think is controversial. Some people probably wouldn’t like that, but I think it’s really yummy because it almost tastes cheesy.
It doesn’t tastebut you know when you’re having Pirate’s Booty or one of those cheesy snacks? It’s kind of the same texture. I like the sweet one, although the white cheddar is also good. I am trying to eat morebecause everybody says protein is important.
So it’s kind of a cute little match made in heaven between the two. It’s yummy and you don’t feel terrible after consuming a lot of it. This has been my new obsession, and the reason I’m so specific about which curl mousse to use is I’ve tried so many at this point, and so many of them leave your hair feeling kind of crunchy if you use too much.
You still don’t want to go overboard with any of them, but I feel like Garnier is at least a bit more flexible if you accidentally use too much. Once your hair fully dries, it’s not crunchy.to my roots, and then I’ll brush my front pieces down to the side in front of my hair. I have a weird cowlick at the back of my head, so I try to brush my hair back to cover it.
It’s a really specific technique. I’m sure I’ve put it on TikTok at some point. And then I take a handful of the mousse and I’ll literally scrunch my hair up. I’ll do that on both sides until I’m happy and it’s as curly as physically possible, because I don’t have naturally curly hair, so I kind of have to fake the curls.
And then if you take a really soft T-shirt or even the towel you used from the shower and you go over it at the end and scrunch it all up, it holds really nicely. When my hair dries, it falls a lot, but it looks like a really natural beach wave. I’m half-Italian, and my hair is pretty thick, so I always feel like claw clips don’t hold all my hair.
I don’t know what’s different about what Emi Jay does, but I actually feel like my hair stays up, which is important. And the clips look simple and chic. Even though there are so many cute designs, I really like the simple black one or a little brown or cream one. I’m kind of simple, and I don’t really want my hair clip to be the center of my outfit.
She’s got some really nice neutrals. I use the larger one, but if I’m doing a half-up, half-down, I like the small one. I really like the cut of Sézane’s headscarves. I was actually at a cancer gala a few years ago, and in the goodie bag they had this red Sézane scarf, and I wear it all the time.
It’s the perfect size and material. It’s soft and so cute. All their patterns are really cute, and I’m just very, very, very into a headscarf, so I had to put it on my list. I wear it pretty much every day.
I wear some sort of bandanna to the gym, and if I’m at the airport, I’ll have a baseball cap on with a scarf tied over it. I love how it looks. I also think it looks really cute if your hair’s up and you wrap it around. Adorable.
If your hair’s down and you’re having a bad hair day, it comes in clutch. When I was living in Paris last summer, I didn’t even know what American Vintage was, but they had this awesome section in Le Bon Marché, which is a great department store to visit if you’re ever in Paris. I tried the shirt on and it was really soft and slouchy, and I had no idea how much I would wear it.
I ended up buying three more when I got back to the States. I gave one to my sister and then left one at my mom’s house in L.A. I need this shirt everywhere I go. For me, it’s one of those T-shirts that when you put it on, you are gonna feel good in it, no matter what.
You could feel really bloated or tired or like you have nothing to wear — whatever it is. It’s kind of slouchy off the shoulder. I’m pretty sure I wear mine in a medium/large. And I kind of throw it off one shoulder and let a little bra strap peek through and do the little mini-tuck in jeans or a skirt.
And it looks really effortless but cool. It doesn’t really have a neckline, which I also find awesome and different. I couldn’t recommend it more, honestly.or a workout where my shoes are coming off. I wear my Repettos with my little capris and my sports bra, and I look so cute.
I love wearing them with jeans, with a denim skirt, or sweatpants. I will say they did take a quick minute to break in. You’ve got to just wear them out. But once you break them in they’re so comfortable.
I’m also petite — I’m five-four — and they have a really itty-bitty heel, and I’ll take any extra inches anytime that’s possible. But sometimes you don’t wanna look like you’re wearing heels or it doesn’t fit the vibe. So it kind of looks like a casual ballet flat, but it has a little inch and sometimes that’s nice. It’s very small.
I think they go with everything and make everything look chic. It makes me feel like a ballerina. I have a few different pairs. I have a striped set, which I think is orange and blue.
And I have one with a little carrot on it. But really any of their pajamas are amazing. The founder of Dairy Boy, Paige Lorenze, is somebody I met recently, and she’s really lovely, and I am grateful she sends me pajamas, because they’re so soft. I don’t know what Paige is putting in her pajamas, but they’re so great.
You just have to try them to know what I’m talking about. I wouldn’t say I am the best with film photography. The reason I love this camera so much is that it’s automatic. But there’s something incredibly special about going through a roll of film, taking it to get developed, and then receiving the photos back.
And for some reason, to me, my film photos and those memories stand out so much more in my brain. I have no idea why. We obviously are so used to being able to capture every single waking moment on our iPhones, so there’s something rare and special about it.
Any trip I take, if I’m going to an event, if I’m hanging out with friends, or I’m just walking around New York, I’ll always have my film camera in my purse. The photos you get back are just different. They feel different. They look different.
I feel like it actually captures what happened in that moment so much more accurately than a phone would. And I like this one specifically because it’s so user-friendly and easy. If you have to manually set everything yourself, shout-out to you, you are dope and I would like to learn that at some point, but I am so busy that the Contax is good for now.
I have said this for a long time: I really believe Laneige, at least for my lips, is one of the onlythat actually hydrates. If my lips are dry, whether it’s weather or location, if I use it, I actually notice improvement. Whereas sometimes I feel like other balms and products are like a quick fix, but by the end of the night my lips are still really chapped.
They have one in a little circle container, and that’s the one I use at night. It’s really thick and nice. But I also use that in the day too — I feel like any girl understands that lip balms are constantly going missing. So whatever I have around I’ll use.
But the ones I typically keep in my purse are the tube-shaped ones and then the circle pot is what I use at night.in Korea, which is a big drugstore filled with makeup, skin care, and hair care. It’s actually heaven on earth. I don’t even know why or how I ended up grabbing this, because they have so many options, but I picked it out — it looked intriguing to me.
And then I was out one night with friends. I’m pretty diligent about making sure I take all my makeup off before I go to bed, even on a night out. And so I was using my cleansing balm, making sure I was getting everything off my skin.
And then when I woke up the next morning, I didn’t have black under my eyes, which is not that big of a deal — obviously, I can just wipe it off with micellar water the next morning. But I was so impressed that it took off all of my makeup in one go and I didn’t have to do any other steps in terms of cleansers. And it made my skin feel so clean but not stripped or dry.
I am starting with one product for my brand, and it is a dual-end bronzer and highlight stick that was formulated in South Korea. I’m a huge K-beauty fan. And their products are really innovative and work so well. In my experience with dual-end products I’ve tried, I think one side is great and then the other side is kind of whatever.
But it’s not super-practical to carry around a product where you’re only using one side. So I really wanted to create something that was easy and convenient to throw in your bag, especially because I travel so much, and was equally amazing on both sides. I have always had such a love for bronzer and highlighter. When I was 18, I did a capsule collection with Sephora and we released a bronze and highlight palette and the formula was powder.
Back then, powder products and really intense highlighter were all the rage, and the super-bold streak across the cheekbone was in. And while I loved that palette so much, I have evolved in my makeup where now I love it to feel like I’m not wearing much. I want it to look like, Okay, I can tell she has something on and her skin looks really radiant and nice, but it’s not too much or too intense.
So this idea all stemmed from making a more modern, current version of my palette with Sephora. And the name is O.piccola becausein Italian means “little,” and I think my philosophy on YouTube and makeup since I was a kid has always been that a little goes a long way.
