Faculty members with the University of Utah have joined the demonstrators, wearing their commencement regalia and holding signs that said "Hands off our students." After tents were set up at the gathering, university officials said there is a Salt Lake City ordinance that prohibits camping. Officials said discussion are ongoing for when they will step in.
Officers with the Salt Lake City Police Department, Utah Highway Patrol and campus security stood on the sidelines of the demonstration.
