Lincolnshire's new strategy aims to tackle neglect in care settings
A new adult protection strategy has revealed that over half of nearly 800 safeguarding allegations in Lincolnshire in 2020-21 related to acts of neglect or omission in care or hospital settings.
In 2020-21 alone, these settings accounted for approximately 37% of all adult safeguarding enquiries, equating to a concerning 799 enquiries. "We recognise that it is important to consider the circumstances in which safeguarding risks arise, as our prevention activities will need to be tailored to different situations if they are to be effective," said the strategy.
This includes completing joint analysis of the prevalence of domestic abuse across Lincolnshire to identify 'hot-spots' and agreeing on prevention initiatives to keep people safe.This is a targeted multi-agency approach to audit and improve outcomes for the 'top ten' complex cases which are presented most frequently to individual services.
They will provide information and advice to these communities on how to keep themselves safe and explore how front-line employees from different organisations can help to identify risks and provide common messages about how to avoid financial abuse and being scammed.
