Police were called to a West Street home Jan. 30 regarding a possible human bone found under the floor. Also, police asked Cuyahoga County to investigate a Jan. 28 incident in which a woman left her two children in a car by themselves.

Published: Feb. 05, 2026, 11:37 a.m.A resident on West called police at about 10:30 a.m. Jan. 30 and said exterminators found what they believed was a human bone under the floor of his home. The resident had just moved into the house and discovered a mice infestation there.

He called an exterminator, who spotted the human bone in the crawlspace. Police confiscated and stored the bone. They asked the resident to call if additional human bones were found on his property.Police asked the Cuyahoga County Division of Children & Family Services to investigate a Jan. 28 incident in which a 30-year-old Brook Park woman left her two children, 5 and 3, in a car by themselves. Someone called police at about 4:30 p.m. about the two children in the car alone outside Chipotle Mexican Grill, 399 West Bagley. When police arrived at the car, the woman walked toward them. The woman admitted to police that she left the children in the car momentarily while she bought food at Chipotle. She said both children had ear infections so she didn’t want to take them inside. The children didn’t appear to be in distress. The woman was remorseful, saying that she was a struggling single mother. Police noticed that the children’s car seats were not correctly installed. They helped the woman install the seats correctly.Disorderly conduct: Front Street An intoxicated Chardon man, 20, was cited at about 1 a.m. Feb. 3 after he passed out on the ground in front of Dick’s Bakery, 71 Front. Someone had called police about three intoxicated males screaming. When police arrived, the Chardon man’s friends – a 20-year-old Poland man and a 21-year-old Massillon man – said they were trying to get the Chardon man home. The friends helped the man to his feet. The man said he had consumed too much alcohol in a bar. One of the friends said the man’s father was on the way to pick him up.A Third resident, 32, was cited at about 3 a.m. Feb. 1 for playing loud music in his apartment. Someone had called police about the noise. Police knocked on the resident’s door but no one answered at first. They persisted and the resident finally answered the door.A Medina man, 50, was arrested at about 4 a.m. Jan. 31 for driving under the influence of liquor. Police witnessed the man, in a Ford pickup truck, making an improper turn from Baker Street onto East Bagley eastbound. The man turned directly into the left lane on East Bagley. Police stopped the truck on East Bagley near Eastland Road. The man smelled like alcohol and his speech was slurred. He failed field sobriety tests.
