The Patriots delivered one of the biggest upsets of Week 1 when they went into Cincinnati and defeated the Bengals, 16-10, behind a strong defensive effort. New England forced a pair of fumbles and held Joe Burrow and company to 224 total yards while riding Rhamondre Stevenson’s 120 rushing yards and a touchdown. The win followed the likely blueprint the Pats require to victory with strong defense, smart play and an offense built around the run.
Even across the country, the Seahawks go into Week 2 as 3-point favorites to beat the Patriots in Foxborough and improve to 2-0. Quarterback Geno Smith has a full arsenal of weapons and is backed by a power run game, which was part of the formula in a 28-20 comeback win over the Denver Broncos in Week 1. Seattle got 103 yards from running back Kenneth Walker III, and backup running back Zach Charbonnet caught Smith’s only touchdown pass, a 30-yarder in the fourth quarter.
