On this week's 'Don't Let This Flop' podcast, we chatted with TaylorLorenz about how Facebook tried to undermine the public’s trust in TikTok.

I think misinformation is a huge problem on TikTok. I think everyone on TikTok has basically zero media literacy and will believe anything that they see, to an extent that I think would shock people on Twitter. On Twitter, there are these big academics and journalists and misinformation researchers focused on debunking that stuff. There are almost none of those people on TikTok. It’s really.

One thing that’s come up for us a lot over the course of doing this podcast and just in our conversations about internet culture generally, is the changing of language on TikTok specifically. This started with Tumblr and millennials, of course, but there has been this shifting of words like “,” which is a term used to describe a really traumatic, really specific experience that people now apply pretty broadly.
