The National Weather Service has cold weather warnings in effect until midday in many areas, with winds expected to keep conditions feeling bitterly cold through the morning. Some snow flurries were being reported in locations in north Alabama, but no accumulations or travel headaches were anticipated.Alabama temperatures were very cold as of 6 a.m. Sunday, according to weather service data. One of the coldest spots in the state was one of the usual suspects, Haleyville, which was reporting 12 degrees on Sunday morning. Even Mobile was in the teens with 19 degrees as of 6 a.m. Sunday. Here is a look at the lowest temperature between midnight and 6 a.m. Sunday from locations across the state :While temperatures were very cold, some places in the state were not as cold as last Tuesday when another arctic blast hit the state. The weather service said Alabama is about to have the worst of this abnormally-cold stretch behind it, and a warmup is coming this week. High temperatures on Sunday will be very chilly but not as cold as they were on Saturday, when many spots in the state did not get out of the 20s.Anniston: Saturday’s high was 30 degrees, breaking the record, which was 35 degrees in 1966.Shelby County Airport in Calera : Saturday’s high temperature was 30 degrees, breaking the record of 43 degrees in 2000.Highs today will top out in the low to mid-30s in north Alabama, according to weather service forecasts.South Alabama is expected to have highs in the low to mid-40s today.Here are tonight’s forecast low temperatures:North Alabama will fall into the low 20s overnight. Central Alabama lows will range from the low 20s to the mid-20s, and south Alabama is expected to hit the mid- to upper 20s. Monday and Tuesday are expected to be much warmer across Alabama, with high temperatures on Monday expected to climb into the 50s nearly statewide:The next chance for rain will return on Tuesday, however, and rain chances will last into Wednesday. No snow or other form of frozen precipitation is expected with the midweek system, according to the weather service. The weather service expects a quick shot of colder air to follow Wednesday’s system, but nothing like this weekend.
