Memorial Day will be sizzling hot with temperatures reaching the mid-90s with a heat index 106°-110°. For more on our Memorial Day forecast,The NWS continues a Heat Advisory through Monday 10 PM. The reason for this oppressive heat is a dome of high pressure over southern Mexico. We’re on the outer edge of this high. This is doing two things. First, it keeps the severe weather north of us and second, it’s giving us a lot of heat.
Galveston will warm to the upper 80s and low 90s but humidity at the peak heating of the day could make it feel like the low 100s.If you have plans to flock to the beach be mindful that there are deadly rip currents. Currently the beach flag system is at a red. This means there is danger due to high surf, rip currents and adults should not go more than waist deep into the water, children should remain at the shoreline.There is slight relief in the forecast.
