Houston area high school softball rankings: Defending Class 5A champion Lake Creek off to hot start
Reigning Class 5A state champion Lake Creek is off to a strong start this season, winning the Bayou City Classic last weekend.The Houston Chronicle's weekly area high school softball power rankings. Rankings are based on overall and recent performances, quality wins, strength of schedule and team accomplishments.The Lady Lions had an undefeated season last year and the reigning Class 5A state champions are off to a hot start this season.
The Lady Oilers picked up wins against San Antonio Brennan, Marshall, Harlan and Liberty at the tournament.The Lady Tigers had a successful weekend at the Katy ISD tournament. As a team, Katy had a 0.80 ERA with a total of 75 strikeouts. Katy's bats were also hot and hit eight home runs at the tournament.The Lady Buccaneers won the Bryan College Station Tournament over the weekend. Brazoswood picked up the championship with a 12-9 victory over Clear Springs.
