Already planning our weekend cocktails 🍸
watch party, you've come to the right place. While the citizens of Westeros tend to imbibe beer, wine, and the occasional milk of the poppy, it's an Italian cocktail that has the fandom thirsty this week, thanks to star Emma D'Arcy's recommendation.
In a clip that's currently going viral, D'Arcy and their costar Olivia Cooke—who play Princess Rhaenyra and My Girl Queen Alicent, respectively—reveal their favourite drinks, and D'Arcy leans in just a bit while describing a Negroni “sbagliato” style, which, as they explain, means with prosecco. A Negroni is an Italian cocktail made with gin, vermouth, and Campari; “sbagliato” means you swap the gin for prosecco or another sparkling white wine.
explains, “sbagliato” is Italian for “mistake,” and the drink was supposedly invented when a bartender added prosecco to a Negroni, instead of gin, by accident. Like the invention of penicillin! On TikTok the clip has nearly 10 million views, far more than the average post from the HBO Max account. For whatever reason, viewers are hooked on this little moment. Like, hook, line, and sinker.
On Twitter, fans expressed their, um, desires around D'Arcy , and even hypothesised that bars will start running out of the required ingredients because people will order it so much. Listen, whatever we have to do to bring the age of the espresso martini to a close, I think we should do it. Summer's over—have a real drink.
