A man in his 20s was taken to hospital
after an assault during a Sunday League football match in Northampton. The incident took place between 11am and 11.30am yesterday, Sunday, October 9.
The match was being played on a school field in Kingsland Gardens, Kingsthorpe, when an assault occurred. Northamptonshire Police is investigating, and has appealed for witnesses or people with mobile phone footage to come forward. The force has not issued any information about how or why the assault took place. However, one of the players sustained serious injuries.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who might have witnessed or been involved in the incident. A spokesperson said police "also believe all or part of the incident may have been captured with mobile phones, and anyone with any footage relating to the incident is asked to contact the police".
