Hotels serving as temporary dormitories for first responders are getting a jump on post-pandemic plans
The health-care workers staying at the DoubleTree hotel in downtown Detroit had a few requests: microwaves, refrigerators and workout equipment, plus a way to get their uniforms cleaned. And maybe the hotel’s signature freshly baked chocolate chip cookies? Working with minimal staff, general manager Michael Glass bought microwaves and refrigerators for rooms that didn’t have them, and set up a sign-out system for dumbbells.
