A jockey has been injured and his horse has died after a fall during a race at Moonee Valley racecourse.
Teo Nugent and racehorse Florescent Star fell on Saturday afternoon during race six at the Abell Stakes.The 24-year-old was immediately attended to by medics while veterinarians attended to the horse.
Within minutes of the fall, Nugent was reportedly "conscious and chatting to medical staff" and was moving his limbs, according to Racing Victoria. He was taken to Royal Melbourne hospital.Loading Twitter contentFlorescent Star's trainers, Amy and Ash Yargi, said they were "devastated" at the horse's death.
