Florescent Star has been humanely euthanised owing to the significant injuries she suffered when she clipped heels and fell head first into the turf, throwing Nugent to the ground during the listed 1200-metre Abell Stakes.The Amy and Ash Yargi-trained galloper crashed through the inside rail and laid down on the inner track, as a green screen was set up around the horrific scene.
She had been travelling in behind the speed when she ran up the backside of the leaders, as they slowed to take the final turn into the straight, and it appears she clipped the heels of In The Boat, who eventually won the race. The 24-year-old will be transported to hospital, and has reportedly been in and out of consciousness.
