Sunday, Deputy City Manager Robert Barr said he estimated there were nearly 300 homes impacted, “most of which experienced significant flooding.” “I’m a little bit numb from all of it,” Johnston said, describing her exhaustion from the damage to her home. “Over 100 volunteers turned out at the Melvin Park volunteer center on Saturday, a stunning demonstration of Juneau’s readiness to come together,” city spokesperson Meredith Thatcher said in a statement. “Unfortunately, extreme need remains. Experienced volunteer teams and partner organizations are mobilizing to lend their support, but the community still needs as many helping hands as possible.”
