Nearly a week after the Suicide Basin release, Juneau residents are facing the damage to their homes and neighborhoods.

Sunday, Deputy City Manager Robert Barr said he estimated there were nearly 300 homes impacted, “most of which experienced significant flooding.” “I’m a little bit numb from from all of it,” said Johnston said, describing her exhaustion from the damage to her home. She said she doesn’t have the means, emotionally or financially, to move out of her home, in which she said all of the floors have to be torn out. After two years in a row of historic flooding, Johnston said she’s tentative to restore her home to its prvious condition.
