An Elyria woman who provided homecare to a 93-year-old woman in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, was accused of stealing more than $24,000. The woman allegedly altered the amounts on 13 checks and duplicated four checks, forging the victim's daughter's signature. Police identified the suspect through her company registration and public databases.

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio – An Elyria woman stole more than $24,000 from a 93-year-old Alan Parkway resident for whom she was providing homecare.

The daughter and her brother wrote several checks to the woman for her service. They began noticing that the check amounts in their mother’s bank records didn’t match the amounts they had written on the checks. The first check with an altered amount was dated May 7. Since then, the amounts on 13 checks had been doctored.
