More than 8% of Ohio counties are now affected by exceptional drought, the highest drought classification by the U.S. Drought Monitor. Meanwhile, moderate drought begins to close in on Northeast Ohio once more.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Now classified as a natural disaster by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the historical levels of drought conditions have continued to shift and worsen in Ohio, with moderate drought encroaching once again on Northeast Ohio and exceptional drought impacting parts of nearly two dozen counties.
In addition, several counties in Northwest Ohio have now entered severe drought as drought worsened in the bordering states of Indiana, according to this week’s U.S. Drought Monitor update, released on Thursday.
