But it’s one he would never want to give up. “It’s no secret that Latinos are leading the population growth in Pennsylvania,” Fernandez said, and while many companies may pay lip service to reaching that community, “ultimately I think companies need to not only talk about it, but walk the talk and meet people where they are,” particularly when it comes to hiring more Latino talent to fill corporate ranks.
“Every aspect of my life’s work ties back to my Latino heritage and my experience as a young immigrant from the Dominican Republic living in Harrisburg with my non-English speaking family. I had to quickly adapt to the American language and culture to help my family navigate and survive this life-changing transition.
