Residents of Hilliard Station Apartments are voicing their frustrations to ABC 6 On Your Side as heavy snow continues to trap them inside their homes. The snow-packed residential streets have left many unable to leave. Hailey Barnes said she was already in the process of moving out, but the snow has made it much more difficult. "Definitely a pain in the butt to try to get through," she said, describing the conditions on Tansas Lane. "If you don't have an SUV, you're probably not getting through it without getting stuck.""I can't take an Uber," she said. "I can't take a bus. I got to take vacuums and mops and buckets of cleaners and can't just do that. So far, I'm down $500 for the week." ABC 6 drove through the complex, noting how some streets were better than others. Our crews watched several drivers' tires spin out in the snow. "It's definitely dangerous," Barnes said. "I can say I've definitely avoided being in here as of the couple past couple days."They shared an email from the leasing office, which reads in part: "Due to a Level 3 emergency over the weekend, services are currently behind. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding as crews work as quickly and safely as possible.""I mean, they advertise no need for a shovel or a plow. We've got you covered," Taylor said.We experienced significant winter weather that impacted parking lot conditions across our Hilliard Station community. Our snow removal vendor, DLL, completed plowing during the storm and pre-treated the area with salt ahead of the weather event. Due to the volume and timing of snowfall, conditions required additional attention. DLL is currently en route to perform further snow and ice removal in the parking areas. We appreciate residents bringing concerns to our attention and encourage everyone to use caution during winter conditions. Our team continues to monitor weather impacts and coordinate appropriate response measures as conditions evolve."All I want is to be able to live in peace and the way I'm supposed to," Taylor said.Cold Weather and Snow Advisory remains in effect this morning and afternoon with wind chill values of -15 to -10 possible.
