Marion Local's Griffin Burns chased down a batter from the outfield after a bizarre series of events in the OHSAA baseball playoffs.CLEVELAND, Ohio — Step aside Major League Baseball, the wildest play you will see on a diamond all season happened Friday in postseason OHSAA baseball action.
With his team trailing 11-3 against Fort Recovery in the bottom of the sixth inning in the Division IV Northwest 3 District final, Burns fielded a ball in the outfield and chased the batter down at home plate before tagging him for an out. The third baseman, meanwhile, had run over to cover second, so the Ft. Recovery batter continued to third. The Flyers’ catcher had headed to cover third, so with nobody covering home, the batter kept it moving.
