DAVID MUNDEE Geneva won all five of its matches Saturday to win Charles Henderson’s Trojan Classic, capping the run with a 25-20, 25-17 championship win over Straughn.
For the tournament, Hayden Howell delivered nine aces, 53 assists, 24 kills and 22 digs and RayAnna Ausley earned five aces, 35 kills and 59 digs. Cheyenne Hammock delivered 46 assists, while Quin Barnett amassed 27 kills and Aubree Lamb 84 digs.The Tigers lost to Straughn 25-11, 25-10, beat Zion Chapel 27-25, 25-16 and Dale County 25-12, 24-26, 15-12 before losing to Geneva 25-15, 25-11 in the tournament semifinals.
For the day, Arianna Knox amassed 18 kills, 10 aces and four blocks, Avery Havas 17 kills and 16 digs and Abigail Goodman 15 kills, five aces and 35 digs. Chloe Andrews delivered 25 assists and 26 digs, Molly McGowan 25 assists and seven digs and Calie Seay 48 digs. Jaylin Hancock added seven kills and three blocks.The Warriors beat Zion Chapel 25-18, 21-25, 15-8 before losing to Straughn 25-16, 25-13, Eufaula 12-25, 26-24, 15-12 and to Charles Henderson 20-25, 25-17, 15-8.
