Fast jets, rotary and transport aircraft may be flying low over the region
The government has announced there will be low flying military planes over a number of regions, including Merseyside, Cheshire and Lancashire as part of Exercise Cobra Warrior. According to the Royal Air Force , the exercise is run twice a year and is the largest air exercise run by the RAF.
The exercise is designed to train participants in high intensity, large force, tactical air warfighting operations. Earlier this year aircraft from the Saudi Arabian, Indian, Finnish, Belgian and USA air forces, landed at a number off bases in the UK including RAF Coningsby and RAF Waddington.Some of the aircraft involved in the exercise earlier this year included F-16s, F-18s, and five Mirage 2000.
Squadron Leader Mcfadden, Officer Commanding 92 Squadron, said: "We are looking forward to delivering Exercise Cobra Warrior 23-1. 92 Squadron have developed a challenging Air-led multi-domain exercise focussed on pitting our NATO, Joint Expeditionary Force and International partners against a capable peer adversary within a challenging and complex environment."
The Government has now confirmed jets will once again be taking to the skies on a number of dates between September 17 and 23.
