The 2020 election and its aftermath highlighted how vulnerable our nation could be to presidential election subversion.

Democrat Joe Biden won Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin and their 79 Electoral College votes by a combined 311,257 votes out of 25.5 million ballots cast for president. Late in 2022, a little-noticed but consequential effort by extreme right-wing activists to pressure local election officials to audit previous elections took hold in some counties across Pennsylvania.
