At the same time, he issued a stark warning, saying that if negotiations collapse, the United States is prepared to target and “obliterate” Iran’s energy and water infrastructure. Iran, however, is publicly denying that direct negotiations with the United States are underway. A spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry called U.S. demands to end the conflict “excessive, unrealistic and illogical.”Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and other U.S. partners in the region are urging Trump to continue the military campaign, arguing that Iran has not been weakened enough by the monthlong bombing operation, according to U.S., Gulf and Israeli officials. Officials from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain have privately told the administration they do not want the war to end until there are major changes in Iran’s leadership or behavior. The push comes as Trump signals optimism about negotiations while simultaneously threatening further escalation — highlighting competing pressures on the administration as it weighs whether to strike a deal or intensify the conflict.Overnight, the U.S. launched strikes that hit one of Iran's main nuclear sites, and Tehran attacked a fully loaded Kuwaiti oil tanker in the Persian Gulf."You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
