Dangerously hot temperatures will continue to smash records in parts of the West through late this week:

Records have already been broken in this heat wave and more are likely to fall in the days ahead, from the Central Rockies into the Desert Southwest and California.

June monthly record highs of 105 degrees were tied in Billings, Montana, on Tuesday, and in Grand Junction, Colorado, Wednesday., Wednesday, one day shy of tying their longest such torrid streak. Tuesday, Palm Springs, California, soared to 120 degrees, five days earlier in the calendar than their previous earliest 120-degree high on June 20, 2017.
