Health DG: Undocumented immigrants will also be screened for Covid-19
The Health director-general however said that the authorities in charge of handling matters related to undocumented immigrants falls within the jurisdiction of the Home Ministry.
He said this at the daily press briefing on Friday , in response to a question on how the raids on foreigners in enhanced movement control order areas would affect the Health Ministry’s plans of mass testing. Immigration Department personnel had been seen at Menara City One building on Friday morning, with a group of people, believed to be undocumented immigrants, seen sitting at one area of the building.
There are currently 86 positive cases from the areas surrounding the Kuala Lumpur Wholesale Market, with about 19 cases detected from outside the enhanced MCO areas.“The investigation is still ongoing, contact tracing of family members and the traders from the markets . The data is not complete, it would take maybe another two or three more days to conduct the active case detection for those linked to the wholesale market,” he said.
