PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has confirmed that none of its staff infected by the Covid-19 virus was due to non-compliance.

In a press conference yesterday at the ministry’s headquarters, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah

confirmed that 19 Health Ministry workers had been infected, with two currently admitted to the intensive care unit.“It is not because of non-compliance while handling cases, ” he said. On patient’s details being shared online, Dr Noor Hisham said consent was imperative and that a police report could be lodged against those who shared such information without consent.

He also noted that there were cases of clinics requiring cleaning and disinfection after patients had not been truthful to health workers and he urged every patient to be honest when questioned by doctors.“We have seen and placed them appropriately. Checks to isolate are also being done. They are also part of our community and we have identified places to accommodate them, ” he said.

While not directly commenting on Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba’s advice to Malaysians to drink warm water to “flush” virus to the stomach, Dr Noor Hisham said all treatments were based on evidence-based medicine.
