A Hayward man was arrested Saturday night after allegedly carjacking a vehicle in Fairfield and leading law enforcement on a pursuit that stretched across multiple jurisdictions before ending in Napa County.

Oscar Garcia-Cerrato, 35, was booked into Solano County Jail with his last name indicated as Cerrato-Garcia, carjacking, multiple felony driving offenses, evading police and probation violation on behalf of several agencies, including the Fairfield Police Department, the California Highway Patrol, the Suisun Police Department and the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. He is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Solano County Superior Court at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. According to a release from the Fairfield Police Department, officers received a report of a carjacking around 9:24 p.m. Saturday, near Woolner Avenue and Lawrence Street in Fairfield. Responding officers gathered information about the suspect and the stolen vehicle and quickly issued a “Be On the Lookout” alert. Officers soon located the vehicle near Pennsylvania Avenue and Highway 12 and attempted a traffic stop, the release states. The driver instead fled eastbound on Highway 12, beginning a pursuit that continued into Suisun City.Police terminated the pursuit after the suspect began driving the wrong way on Lawler Ranch Parkway, the said. Officers from the Fairfield Police Department and Suisun Police Department then coordinated efforts to monitor key exit points from the area and prepare a grid search for the suspect and vehicle. During the search, officers with the Suisun Police Department spotted the vehicle. Police said the suspect rammed a Suisun City police patrol car and fled again, triggering a second pursuit. The chase continued westbound on Highway 12 and was eventually taken over by the California Highway Patrol. According to police Garcia-Cerrato, drove into Napa County, where he abandoned the vehicle and attempted to run from officers.Authorities said the investigation also revealed Garcia-Cerrato was on active probation in Solano County for attempted robbery. Officials credited the arrest to coordinated efforts among multiple agencies, including Fairfield police officers and dispatchers, Suisun police, the California Highway Patrol, the American Canyon Police Department and the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.
