A security guard at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds, 164 Eastland Road, called police at about 10 p.m. Sept. 22 regarding an assault that occurred inside the “7 Floors of Hell” haunted house.

A Brook Park girl, 15, told police she was a haunted house actor. Her job was to jump out at visitors and scare them. When she did so with one particular visitor, later identified as a 14-year-old Brunswick boy, he punched her on the neck and jaw.

The girl left the haunted house to tell her manager what happened. When the boy exited the haunted house, the girl pointed him out, and the security guard pulled him aside until police arrived. Other haunted house actors said the boy had held his fists in a fighting stance with them but no one saw the boy hit the girl.

The girl’s mother, who also was working at the haunted house, wanted to press charges against the boy. The boy adamantly denied punching anyone. The boy’s mother, who was also on the scene, said her son had never before engaged in violent behavior. If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
