Harrison Ford as Rusty Sabich looking stoic in Presumed Innocent
Ford's exceptional thriller masterpiece touting a hit Apple TV remake will be leaving its free streaming service at a terrible time. Ford's best movies include a number of classic films across various genres, from sci-fi projects like Star Wars and Blade Runner, to action movies such as the Indiana Jones movies and Patriot Games.
One of his most masterful works, however, is the legal thriller Presumed Innocent. Based on Scott Turow's novel of the same name, the film follows Rusty Sabich , who is accused of killing his colleague, Carolyn Polhemus, with whom he was having an affair. The movie earned critical acclaim, and was recently remade into an Apple TV series starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Now, it's been confirmed by Tubi that Presumed Innocent will be leaving the free streaming platform, with the movie listed under their Leaving Soon category. The film's removal from the platform comes at the worst possible time, with Apple TV's Presumed Innocent season 2, based on Dissection of a Murder by Jo Murray, currently filming. To make matters worse, Tubi is one of the only streaming platforms where Presumed Innocent can be streamed. While it's also available on Plex, the only other options involve renting or buying it digitally. This makes it significantly more difficult to watch than the TV series, which is available to stream in full on Apple TV. The movie and TV show follow a very similar format, with Rusty having to plead his case and prove his innocence despite circumstantial evidence making it seem like he may have committed the murder. Both also leave it up in the air until the very end regarding just how involved he was in the crime, and who the culprit truly was. The movie is unique in that it focuses almost entirely on Rusty's point of view, something the TV show negates for a more ensemble approach. Presumed Innocent season 1 ended differently than the movie as well, making the two unique viewing experiences despite having the same setup. The film is also bolstered by Ford's captivating performance. Although Presumed Innocent is leaving Tubi, the Ford-led movie is, for now, still available on another free streaming platform. Even though season 2 of the Apple TV show will be turning into an anthology series, it's still disappointing the original film is leaving such a major streaming platform while the series is still in production. 9.8/10 5/10 Presumed Innocent 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Like Follow Followed TV-MA Crime Drama Mystery Release Date 2024 - 2023 Directors Greg Yaitanes, Anne Sewitsky Writers David E.
