In response to increasing violent behavior from students, the Harrisburg School District has purchased a new administrative office and plans to introduce a police force within its schools starting from the 2024-25 academic year.
The Harrisburg School District has recently acquired the Penn State Harrisburg East Gate building at 1010 N. Seventh St. in Harrisburg for use as a new administrative office . This acquisition comes in response to escalating violent and threatening behavior from students, leading the district to establish its own police force.
At a school board meeting on November 26, the district’s receiver approved a resolution for the introduction of four certified police officers who will patrol the district’s schools starting from the 2024-25 academic year. This marks the first time since 2009 that certified police officers will be stationed within the district’s school buildings
