The Anchorage School District has removed three elementary schools from its proposed closure list as part of its ongoing rightsizing plan.

In a memo from Jim Anderson, the Chief Operating Officer at ASD, each school presented plans for why they should continue to operate.meets facility repurpose efforts by providing early childcare and significant before-school and after-school care at both elementary and middle school levels. Bear Valley plans to fully occupy four vacant classrooms next school year and six classrooms in 2026-27., the district initially thought many students would relocate to Denali Montessori.
The school district also announced that instead of closing the other four schools over three years, they will all be shut down at the end of this school year .page breaks down how many students will be sent to other schools. For example, at Baxter Elementary, 17 students will go to Chester Valley Elementary, 99 students will go to College Gate Elementary and 53 students will attend Scenic Park Elementary.
