Wilfried Gnonto tried to force a move away from Leeds United in the summer but the club remained firm in their stance
Former Leeds United assistant manager Gus Poyet believes his former side will be doing everything they can to keep Wilfried Gnonto at the club until the end of the season. The Italian international tried to force a move away from Elland Road during the summer, but has since apologised and regained his place in Daniel Farke's starting XI.
Gnonto remains one of the most valuable assets in the Leeds United squad, but it's for that reason Poyet has warned the club of an impending decision. The Whites were clear in their stance that Gnonto was not for sale, but that didn't stop Premier League side Everton in their pursuit.
"He needs to balance out how important the money would be to the club and how important the player is to the team; it is a difficult situation. When you have a player of that quality you want to keep them at least until the end of the season."
