The shooting happened at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday in the park on Magnolia Avenue on Birmingham's Southside.

Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said police found the victim unresponsive in the park. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced him dead on the scene.Witnesses reported hearing shots fired and saw people running away from the park, but they did not see the actual shooting, Wade said. They called 911. Wade said the victim did not have any identification on him. Though the park is popular with transients, she said there was no indication the victim was a transient.a man was found fatally shot in southwest Birmingham street.The victim is Birmingham’s 115th homicide this year. Of those, eight have been ruled justifiable and two happened in previous years and died in 2024.
