Pep Guardiola has revealed Manchester City were offered the chance to play their Carabao Cup fixture away from home to ease their fixture congestion. The club have been handed two games in 49 hours, facing Watford at the Etihad on Tuesday this month after hosting Arsenal on the previous Sunday.
Pep Guardiola revealed that Manchester City were offered the chance of ceding their home advantage in the Carabao Cup to ease their fixture crisis.
"It's going to happen many many times for teams that play in all competitions," said Guardiola. "To give an alternative, to play on away in London to have more days but then we had a Saturday game in Newcastle and we prioritise more rest for Newcastle. "We will do our job anyway - with this salary or less salary - because we love to do it but we play Arsenal on the Sunday and it’s not an easy game and after two days later we have to do it . I prefer to play at home than go on Thursday to London and my fans to watch this lovely, adorable team at home.
