Jeremiah Rivers went missing without a trace while on a hunting trip in south-western Queensland.

The travelling companions of a missing Queensland man decided not to tell police about his disappearance because they were worried they would be fined for breaching COVID-19 border restrictions, a court has heard.

Detectives have provided little public update on their investigation into Rivers since appealing for information regarding the car in November 2021. Others in the group reported to police that Rivers was drinking beer and smoking methylamphetamine on the drive, the court heard.Lio-Willie said before the 27-year-old disappeared, he had told members of the group he wanted to go swimming.“This is the last known time anyone saw Jayo.”Some of the group went to look for him, Lio-Willie said, he could not be found by nightfall.

The group did not disclose Rivers’ disappearance until they were pulled over by police the following day, prompting search and rescue crews to start looking.
