A ribbon cutting and gift card giveaway was held this morning at the store.

at 5280 Simpson Ferry Road in Hampden Township with a ribbon-cutting and gift card giveaway.As part of the opening, the first 100 people in line this morning were given gift cards in mystery amounts ranging from $5 to $500. Also, operators Ryan Lazar and Benjamin Lee donated $1,000 to New Hope Ministries, whose mission is to serve neighbors in times of need and supporting their efforts toward stability.

“We are so thrilled to be a part of the Mechanicsburg community and provide big savings on quality groceries,” they said in a press statement. “This partnership with Grocery Outlet gives us the ability to grow our business, create new jobs and more importantly, give back to the local community.” For those who missed the grand opening, shoppers have another opportunity to win $1,000 in groceries through anGrocery Outlet is based in Emeryville, California and oversees 400 locations throughout California, Idaho, Maryland, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Washington.

Locally, Grocery Outlets at 110 Old York Road in New Cumberland and 66 N. Londonderry Road in Palmyra are open for business. In 2019, one of the stores closed at 85 Gateway Drive in Hampden Township. Grocery Outlet is ranked eighth in the central Pennsylvania region with 10 stores and sales topping $63.2 million,
