The first is that the show is more based in Saudi Arabia this time around, which makes sense considering the investment. It’s honestly not at all jarring, as anime such aswere already set in the Middle East. Not to mention that an alien invasion of Earth would be global, so why not show it from a Saudi Arabian perspective.In this new series, Koji is straight up piloting the Mazinger Z and this is a big and interesting departure. While the originalis a massive tentpole franchise, it’s interesting to see it used directly here, but this is where I thinksaga mecha probably appearing later on, as well as each of the mecha working together more openly. This alone is pretty cool already, and I am looking forward to seeing Mazinger Z and GrendizerIf this is how I think it will play out, then it’s a smart move and one that could help reboot and refresh thethis time around.
